Why does my window tint keep falling down?

One of the main issues with static cling window tint that many customers have is that the window tint falls down after a while.

There are usually a few reasons for this.

    1. Improper application: Many consumers think that static cling window tint is simply applied to the window with no other preparation like smaller holiday decorative clings. THIS IS WRONG.
Full window static cling tint must be applied using a tint on solution usually consisting of 90% water and 10% non-abrasive dish soap. The soap makes the solution slicker allowing the tint to be installed properly and for any and all air bubbles to be pushed out during the squeegeeing stage. This allows the atmospheric pressure and static electricity to keep the static cling window tint adhered to the window.

    2. Manufacturer corner-cutting: This usually occurs when a company uses a cheaper manufacturing process to pad their margins. Many static cling window tints will be slightly thicker increasing the weight and as a result causing the atmospheric pressure and static electricity to be less effective.

  • Improper preparation: Another issue can be that the film was not trimmed properly, as a result, there is an edge that remains lifted away from the window. This then allows air to get behind the window tint and causes the window tint to slowly peel away which then falls down.
